As expected, the Young Americans "Broadway Tonight" performance at the La Mirada for the Performing Arts theater did not, I repeat, did NOT disappoint!
Invited by my very good friend, Dana White of White House Talent, I was completely mesmerized by the talent pool of individuals from the pre-show reception to the last curtain call.
Broadway Tonight took the audience through a timeless journey of Broadway favorites including Rent, Brigadoon, Wicked, Disney Mary Poppins, Once, Pippin, Motown the Musical, Jersey Boys and much more. The show concluded with an electrifying, soul-grabbing, heart-pumping grande finale to Disney The Lion King!
The pre-show meet and greet included Emmy Award-Winning Alumnae Cheri Steinkellner whose 2012 Ovation Award nominated original musical "Hello, My Baby!" was featured in the show.
The show featured a 130-member cast under the direction of William Brawley, co-founder of the Young Americans International Outreach Program.
Besides the stand ovation accolades to the wonderful Young Americans performers who worked tirelessly for a month or so to stage a wonderful Broadway Tonight performance, my highlight of the evening was my mini-reunion with former-caroling buddies Aaron Kolberg (tenor), Dana White (soprano) and Brian Schwartz (bass) and our impromptu performance of "Good King Wenceslas" Christmas carol, or what we so endearingly coined as our "warm up" song back in the day.
Classic!
